D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser starred in a good-humored video attempt to get Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to build the corporation’s second headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The Office of Mayor Muriel Bowser created and released the video Friday, listing reasons why Bezos should join the D.C. fray. Coming here makes sense, Bowser said, because Bezos already owns a house in D.C., it’s a great place to live, the city is walkable, and has terrific restaurants and art. “That’s why a thousand people move here every month,” Bowser said.
A Washington Nationals hat and Ben’s Chili bowl pamphlet also adorned Bowser’s desk while the video rolled.
“People know they’re coming to D.C. because they can start and grow their businesses,” she said. “And they have access to some of the most talented people and the top universities in the world. They’re [San Franciscans] making big decisions around shopping and dining and changing the world, and we do the same thing right here in Washington, D.C.”
The video ends with Bowser asking the Amazon Alexa device on her desk, “Alexa, where is the most interesting company in the world going to locate?” to which it responds, “Obviously, Washington, D.C.”
It is still unknown which city Bezos will choose, but he is also reportedly considering New York, Atlanta and Chicago.
The video has received more than 4,000 views since it was published.
